Aim of the School

The school is intended primarily for experimental high energy physicists preparing a PhD in particle physics, in particular during their first two years. The lectures cover both theoretical and experimental aspects of the field.

Registration

Registration upon arrival from Monday September 15, 12h00 onwards in Tagungsstätte Walberberg

Fee

The fee for the school will be EUR 800. It covers full board and lodging in a double room for the first week and a single room for the second week without shower from Monday 15 Sept. 14:00 to Friday 26 Sept. 16:00 and an excursion.

When making a payment please don't forget to give the name of the participant, as well as his/her institution and address, otherwise we won't get any information about your payment. Details of the bank account for the payment will be sent by email.

Getting to Walberberg

If you coming by car, use the instructions given on the Tagungsstätte Walberberg homepage under “Anfahrtsplan”.

If you are coming by train you should arrive at Köln/Cologne Hauptbahnhof. From there take the U-Bahn Linie 18 direction Bonn. Get off at the “Schwadorf” stop. From there it is about 1km on foot to the Tagungstätte Walberberg. Cross the main road and follow the Dominkanerstrasse into Walberberg. Continue on this road for about 500m and at the end turn right and follow the signs to the “Dominikanerkloster”. The cost of a taxi is about EUR5. You can call Taxi Keulen (02227 5000).

Recreation

There is a table-tennis table, small fitness room and pool table at Walberberg. The spacious grounds offer plenty of room for football, volleyball, frisbee etc. Close by there is a very pleasant lake.
